In With the Old
A year after his triumphant Jazz Hastings debut last February, legendary American saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi is back on stage at the East Hastings Sea Angling Association for Jazz Hastings’ February session. He’ll be playing with one of the biggest stars of the UK jazz scene – and recent Jazz Hastings guest – pianist Jason Rebello.

In the Money
Hastings Museum & Art Gallery has joined the Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and will receive £450,000 over the next three years. It will allow the museum to “work on engaging with new audiences, as well as maintaining existing audiences. It will also see the museum working more outside of the museum walls in the community.”
Let There Be
Following the success of last year’s festival, Bexhill After Dark returns on 28 January. With spectacular displays of creativity, light art and design, this year’s festival is focused on the seafront, with two light-up installations, an interactive Beach and Kathak dancing by Sujata Banerjee Dance Company. Wham Bam Crabb
We are reliably informed that Sussex musician Simon Crabb is releasing the ‘eagerly anticipated’ single Mykonos
- a ‘love letter from Crabb to his wife’ – from his album English American. This album was the last produced by lifelong friend, the late Steve Brown, who worked with bands like Wham, Manic Street Preachers and Elton John. Apparently, English American has been dubbed “Brit Pop’s hedonistic daze meets the stripped back acoustic blues and folk/alt country, with modern production from one of the best.” So now you know.
