Hastings Rental Health (HRH) are a local group of renters campaigning to improve housing conditions for all people renting or unable to find a home in Hastings. Their current aim is to establish a housing co-operative, and help other renters who want to do the same. Housing co-operatives enable cheap rents, allow renters to control the maintenance of their own property (rather than depending on the good-will or efficacy of a landlord) and remove the business/profit component from our housing system.


The more co-operatives exist, the more the co-ops can work together and network to create a sustainable system of social housing, free from the flaws that reduce state social housing such as the right to buy.
