CHILDREN’S SPORT: Kids Go Free at Half Term
Next Tuesday 17 February, an afternoon of free sports activities will be on offer for children aged between 7 and 14 at Summerfields Leisure Centre on Bohemia Road. Styled as Half Term Discovery and Try Day, it provides all participants with opportunities to try out five different sports in half-hour segments: basketball, cricket, futsal (indoor football), racket sports and rugby.
Organisers are Active Hastings, the borough’s sports promoters. Children will be divided into two age groups – 7-9 and 10-14 – with activities running concurrently between 1.45pm and 5pm. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Terry Cooper, Active Hastings Youth Development Officer said: “This year’s programme has been designed to give all children the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of sports, whatever their ability: everyone is very welcome. We are delighted to be working with local sports clubs to offer this bumper timetable of activities, and would like to thank Play Sport, Funk Fusion Fitness, Siam Boxing Camp, Sussex Cricket and Hastings and Bexhill Rugby Club. This event has been made possible with thanks to the Active Sussex Children and Young People Investment Funding.”
