St Leonards held its Frost Fair last Saturday to mark the start of the Christmas season, and the celebrations will continue next Thursday 11 December with its late-night Christmas shopping event.

The local businesses pride themselves in giving a warm welcome all year round, but at this late-night Christmas shopping event you will also be greeted with complimentary drinks and nibbles.

According to Linda Gray of Pass Muster in Kings Road: “We all know that it makes sense to shop small this Christmas, and a visit to central St Leonards on Thursday 11 December will be an evening not to be missed. A lot of your favourite independent shops and cafes will be opening until 8pm and loads of festive cheer will be in the air.”

There will also be free outdoor entertainment on Kings Rd between 5pm until 8pm, and you can enjoy a leisurely gander at the creative shop window displays that are a highlight of the year.

Linda promises: “The lights will be twinkling, the tree will be sparkling, and food and drink will be in abundance. Even the biggest ‘Bah Humbug’ will hopefully feel part of this joyful community event.”

Hastings Old Town will also be hosting several Christmas events. This includes the annual Christmas Tree Festival organised by the Two Towers Trust at St Clement’s Church, which continues this weekend (December 6-7). As well as the display of Christmas trees, dressed by local groups and individuals, there is a craft fair, seasonal refreshments and musical entertainment. Admission is free.

The Old Town Christmas Shopping Day is on Saturday, 7 December and features market stalls and festive food. There will also be a children’s treasure hunt, visits from Mr and Mrs Claus, face painting, and carol singing.

Come on down and support the local economy!
