H & B set up summer camp
Hastings & Bexhill RFC (H & B) will be hosting a two-day rugby summer camp on 24th and 25th August at their ground above Ark Alexandra school. It is open to all children from around the area between the ages of 6 and 15, not just members of the rugby club.
Coaches from Premiership club Saracens will be running the training sessions. In previous seasons H & B have taken teams to play in festivals on the Saracens pitch before staying and watching a Premiership game, so local organiser Martin Sheppard, who is Minis Chairman at H & B, is pleased to offer some reverse hospitality for the first time.

He is hoping to attract about 80-100 children in total across the full age range, with year group sessions spread out across the pitches. Daily cost is £20 for those in younger groups who will attend mornings only; for older age groups it’s £35 for a full day. Attendance can be on either of the days or both.
Saracens describe their camps as an opportunity for children to learn new skills “that not only benefit them on a rugby field but also develop them as a person. Challenging them to set goals and giving them the ability to achieve them, improving their leadership and problem-solving, critical skills that will help them throughout their rugby careers and beyond”.
Some of the revenues will be passed on to the club to invest in developing local rugby.
