TUFT in Ireland and Rome
Local performance company TUFT are bringing two fascinating theatre events to Hastings this April. First up – the Brighton Fringe previews of storyteller Helen Black’s new solo show A Dublin Story. This intimate and witty autobiographical work follows her on a nocturnal adventure as she allows herself to feel the passion of new love rather than hide in the fear of failure.

Next, on 30 April, TUFT’s artistic director Ellie Westbrook shares an ambitious adaptation of Shakespeare’s most controversial play, Titus Andronicus. Bringing together an extremely talented team of multidisciplinary collaborators, the production will confront the challenges of the play head on, using clown, opera, music, movement, humour and rage. Featuring artists Shannon-Latoyah Simon, Jess Mabel Jones, TD van der Beek, Patricia Langa, Jessie Maryon-Davies and Nina May, with sensitivity support from Kyla Jardine. This will be an early-stage sharing of a short development period, so audiences are invited to attend with open minds. We also recommend that you research the piece before attending, to be informed on whatever challenging topics may arise. But remember: this will be adaptation for the modern day. Expect to be stirred and invigorated.
Join us at the newly renovated Stables studio space on 10 and 11 April for A Dublin Story, and the Titus Andronicus adaptation will be at the White Rock Studio 27 as part of TUFT’s New Work Night on 30 April.
