Cold-water men’s swimming group Trunks and Hunks will be taking their first Hastings dip this Sunday 2 August, meeting at 7am on Rock‑ A‑Nore beach.
Established in Eastbourne over a year ago, the group was set up by south coast-raised Joe Wills when he discovered how much cold-water swimming helped his state of mind. He decided to start a supportive community group for men who might be struggling with their own mental health and who could benefit from a collective plunge into the present moment of a cold dip.
Ten brave swimmers came along to the first swim. The week after, it was 30. Now the group has over 100 members and a thriving in-person and social media presence. They have expanded to Seaford and hope that the Hastings group will also take off.
So why not take the plunge? The group is free to join and tea, coffee and snacks are provided for those getting out of the sea.
