The People’s Emergency Briefing in Battle
The opportunity to hear directly from the experts is coming to Battle on Sunday 27 September, when The People’s Emergency Briefing film will be shown three times at Battle Memorial Hall as part of Battle’s Big Green Day.

Presented by Chris Packham, the film brings together leading scientists and specialists to share evidence about the climate change challenges facing Britain, from food and health to extreme weather and the economy. It also explores the choices, solutions and opportunities available to us, giving audiences a chance to understand the bigger picture and consider what a positive response could look like.
The documentary grew out of the National Emergency Briefing held at Westminster in November 2025, where experts presented their findings to an audience drawn from politics, business, culture, faith, sport and the media. It is now being shared through organised screenings across the country, making Battle’s three showings a valuable local opportunity to experience the film and be part of a wider national conversation.
BIGGER PICTURE TO LOCAL ACTION
The screenings are hosted by Battle Solar Town as part of Battle’s Big Green Day, a free community event celebrating practical ideas for a greener Battle.
While the documentary explores the national and global picture, Battle’s Big Green Day brings the conversation closer to home. Visitors can meet local community groups, charities, businesses and organisations, explore exhibition stands, attend short talks and discover practical ideas for their homes, gardens and communities. There will also be children’s activities,
It is not the aim to tell people what they should think or do, but to give them access to information, introduce them to people doing interesting things locally and leave them feeling better equipped to make their own choices.
Three free screenings will take place on Sunday 27 September. Visitors are encouraged to allow time before or after their screening to explore the whole event.
