Parkinson’s UK issues appeal for volunteers
Parkinson’s UK in Bexhill, Hastings, and Rother has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers as the group faces closure.
The support group has been running for over 20 years and serves many people from the local community living with Parkinson’s. They are looking for a Support Group Coordinator and Support Group Helpers – both positions would play a vital role in keeping the service running.
These are flexible roles that can make a big impact, ensuring people with Parkinson’s who live locally can access activities that make a real difference to them. The volunteers will be supported by local staff to develop activities for the group.
Parkinson’s UK says, “If you can spare a few hours a month we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are already part of the group – because with your support we really can change lives.”
As well as making a big difference to people living with Parkinson’s in your local community, volunteering is of course a great opportunity to have new experiences and meet new people.
There are currently 145,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK and it is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. In the UK alone, over a million people’s lives are affected by Parkinson’s including friends, families and carers.
