Maddie Morris – Transformative and Personal
Join BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winner Maddie Morris, described by Jim Moray as “leading the next generation of socially conscious songwriters” on their autumn tour for an intimate and thought-provoking live experience. Maddie’s music explores how personal narratives in song can hold deep political importance. Folk songs have always told stories, but Maddie makes their mark by turning storytelling into action, creating work that is both deeply personal and quietly transformative.

In this new show, Maddie invites you on a journey through stories of their life, while opening space for you to explore your own. Blending folk traditions and protest songs with Maddie’s perspective as a queer autistic person, their show examines identity, gender, disability, survival, and joy in community with warmth, humour, and honesty. It needs to be added here that as well as the undoubted quality of the songwriting, Maddie Morris has the most wonderful voice – one of those truly pure folk voices gifted to just a few. Have a listen to some of their recent albums on major streaming programs such as Spotify and BandCamp.
