Buddy Project Winter Market
On 5 December, the Refugee Buddy Project will be welcoming winter and bringing the community together with their annual Winter Market at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery. Join them for a joyful community gathering that celebrates connection, creativity, and the rich diversity of our town.
You can support local makers by purchasing handmade gifts directly from the people who create them and enjoy festive activities including face painting and warm mulled wine. Dove Café will be there serving homemade soup, tea and coffee, and sweet and savoury pastries.
The Winter Market is an opportunity to slow down, be together, and celebrate what makes our community strong: kindness, solidarity and a commitment to creating places where everyone belongs. Throughout the day there will be music, singing, poetry, stories and conversation.
Local businesses have donated amazing prizes for the annual raffle: tickets will be available to buy at the market or online at: therefugeebuddyproject.org. The Refugee Buddy Project looks forward to sharing a safe and welcoming space that celebrates difference and brings people together. Everyone is welcome.
The Refugee Buddy Project opened in 2017 as a community group welcoming people seeking refuge who had recently arrived in Hastings. Now, they are a refugee and migrant-led charity supporting families and individuals from refugee backgrounds with their buddy programme, advocacy, and financial and emotional support. They rely on cultural events to help raise awareness, provide much needed funds and give participants of the project and the public an opportunity to share space to celebrate life in Hastings together.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this article. The future of our volunteer led, non-profit publication would be far more secure with the aid of a small donation. You can also support local journalism by becoming a friend of HIP. It only takes a minute and we would be very grateful.
