Activities for Young and Old
Active Hastings have a bumper calendar of low-cost or free sport sessions running throughout the town for young people this summer. Activities include: Ultimate Frisbee, Street Sport Roadshow, gym and circuit sessions, Summer Holiday and Food programme, Summer Sports in the Park, and football and rugby sessions.
All sessions need to be booked in advance, and booking links and session details can be found on the Hastings Borough Council website.
Sarah Ruusuvuori, Active Hastings Co-ordinator, said: “The sessions are either free (with thanks to funding from the National Lottery and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) or our sliding ticket system has been applied so you can pay what you can afford.”
Active Hastings is also hoping to introduce new people to a fun, accessible sport with their Outdoor Bowls sessions in partnership with White Rock Bowls Club, The Hastings VI Bowls Club and Freedom Leisure.
The bowls sessions will take place every Wednesday from 5 August to 30 September, 10am to 12noon. At just £3 per session or pay what you can (with free tickets available). They take place at White Rock Gardens (Green 1 and 2), Cambridge Rd, Hastings, TN34 1EU, and will welcome anyone who would like to try a new sport in a relaxed setting. The welcoming bowls team will be on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and support you to take part at your own pace. All equipment will be provided.
All sessions should be booked in advance. For further information about Outdoor Bowls, or to book a place, call the Active Hastings team on 01424 451051. hastings.gov.uk/sport_play/getactive/Active-Hastings-summer-holiday-activities/
