South Saxons women have matched their male counterparts in the club by winning the 2024-25 Sussex Martlets league championship. On 29 March, playing at Bexhill Academy, they squeezed past Brighton & Hove 3rds 2-1 whilst nearest challengers East Grinstead went down 3-2 at home to mid-Sussex. The victory of the Hastings side secured the title with a game to spare, and they were perhaps still over-celebrating when they travelled away to third-placed Lewes 2nds last Saturday to be thumped 6-1.

South Saxons men had already sealed their own Martlets title a couple of weeks before, but continued in winning vein for their last two matches, crushing Eastbourne 2nds 9-2 on 29 March at Horntye, then overcoming Hailsham 2-1 away last Saturday.

The men’s second team retained status, finishing 9th out of 12 sides in the same Martlets division, despite a 2-0 loss on the final Saturday against Lewes 2nds.
