Vaccination Survey
Healthwatch East Sussex (HES), a charity independent of Public Health England though it receives its funding from the Department of Health, has been monitoring public response within the county to the Covid-19 vaccination roll-out. Nearly 900 people had responded as of last week.
HES report that:
• 98% of those receiving a COVID-19 vaccination indicated that they would recommend having one to their family and friends;
• The most common reasons people accepted a vaccination were to protect themselves or their family, friends and loved ones (both 98%)
• 72% of those yet to receive a vaccination will definitely or are likely to accept one; 19% will definitely or are likely to reject one; 9% had already declined one.
• The most common reasons for rejection are a retention of personal choice (67%), a desire to wait and see if issues arise with the vaccine (61%), and concerns about safety (55%).
HES say that they are still short of responses from men of all ages, but especially under 50s, and from people living in Hastings and Eastbourne.
Of those yet to be vaccinated, they particularly want to hear whether respondents will accept an invitation for an injection and their reasons either way.
