No End Date for A21 Chaos
East Sussex County Council still cannot provide an estimated completion date for the massively delayed Queensway Gateway link road off the A21 out of Hastings.
A spokesperson could only say it was a “large and complex infrastructure project which we are committed to completing as soon as possible.”
Investigatory inspections and ecology works were completed last month but the next stage of the project apparently involves a “challenging diversion of a water main pipe in the A21 embankment.”
ESCC did not respond to HIP readers’concerns that frequently they can see no work at all being carried out when they finally get through the tailbacks to the single lane traffic control under the Ridge bridge.
The spokesperson said: “We are continuing to work with our delivery partners on options to accelerate construction, including night time working, and will provide more information to the local community as soon as we can.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this article. The future of our volunteer led, non-profit publication would be far more secure with the aid of a small donation. You can also support local journalism by becoming a friend of HIP. It only takes a minute and we would be very grateful.

I too notice a a snail pac ethos in workcommitmeny. Many Balfour Beatty employees seem tucked away on the site sitting in stationary vehicles. minor remedial adjustments
remain unnoticed. Nothing significant occurs in spite of fair weather. Traffic light position look like a rubbish tip. No one cares not even Health and Safety! If there is a Clerk of the
Works he or she should be ensuring the site and surrounding are clean and no broken road equipment is left to rot. The apathy that is clearly apparent is affecting progress at the expense of others!!
wot a cock up if they cant complete the scheme, why not reopen maplehurst road to thepublic
Our local Green councillor is totally unaware of the problem,amazing!..lost two deliveries today to this nonsense !
