East Sussex County Council still cannot provide an estimated completion date for the massively delayed Queensway Gateway link road off the A21 out of Hastings.

A spokesperson could only say it was a “large and complex infrastructure project which we are committed to completing as soon as possible.”

Investigatory inspections and ecology works were completed last month but the next stage of the project apparently involves a “challenging diversion of a water main pipe in the A21 embankment.”

ESCC did not respond to HIP readers’concerns that frequently they can see no work at all being carried out when they finally get through the tailbacks to the single lane traffic control under the Ridge bridge.

The spokesperson said: “We are continuing to work with our delivery partners on options to accelerate construction, including night time working, and will provide more information to the local community as soon as we can.
