A social media group has been set up to help people in the area who are experiencing debilitating symptoms of Long Covid.

The Long Covid Support for East Sussex Facebook page provides support, latest news, and a place to discuss issues for those who have the condition. Long Covid refers to people who had Covid-19 and subsequently have a wide range of lingering problems such as shortness of breath, heart palpitations, fatigue, memory loss, and confusion.

Amanda Shipton, 49, of St Leonards, a member of the group said: “Long Covid has made me feel like I’m a shadow of my former self, catapulted into old age. In the first month different symptoms appeared each day. Now, four months on, it’s like having a bad hangover, vertigo, tinnitus, and brain fog with very low energy. It feels a lonely place. It has really helped talking to other people with similar experiences. On a positive note, it has made me really think about my health – no coffee or alcohol for four months.”

The group formed on 19th March and was covered by BBC South East Today on 28th March. Anyone with the condition and their friends and family are welcome. The page can be found here: www.facebook.com/groups/
