As part of the £24.3m Town Deal investment programme in and around Hastings town centre, the Borough Council (HBC) is currently working on develop-ment options for the site of the Priory Street multi-storey car park and surrounding areas.

A posting on the Town Deal website indicates that HBC will be reviewing a range of uses for this site, including the possibility of a commercial leisure centre, swimming pool, cultural hub and residential units. All ideas are  “subject to financial viability and public and stakeholder engagement”.

A brief online survey headed “Have your say!” which is open until Sunday 24 April asks members of the public to state what social and leisure facilities they would like to find available to them within the town centre – and, in particular, to identify those which at present they have to travel out of Hastings to find elsewhere.
