Hastings is the sunniest town in the UK. That’s the verdict of researchers engaged by Utility Bidder, national assessors of energy, water and telecoms utility provision, to analyse weather data across the nation over the last 30 years.

Hastings clocks up an aggregate of 1,914 sunshine hours per year, or roughly five and a quarter hours per day averaged through winter and summer over the 30 year period. Eastbourne is in second place with 1,892 hours annually, about four minutes less per day.

By comparison Manchester gets 1,265 hours per year, less than three and a half hours per day.
