Following the rejection by Arts Council England of their funding application for the 2024 festival reported in HIP 240, Hastings Fat Tuesday set up a crowdfunder. It’s aimed at raising cash to save at least some elements of the event. Within a few days the initial target of £10,000 was reached; the total sum pledged had risen to over £11,200 as at last Sunday evening, with over two weeks still to run.

Sally Lampitt, director of the community interest company which delivers the Fat Tuesday programme, says that they’ll be waiting until the closure date of 27 December to work out what they’ll be able to achieve. They’re also in conversation with other potential donors and funders. However, they are “really hoping” to deliver free events like the Unplugged Saturday on 10 February and the Tuesday Tour on the 13th.
