It’s safe to say there has been a lot of hype surrounding the opening of Half Man Half Burger’s latest venue, and with the St Leonard’s site being so well-loved, there was a lot of pressure for the opening at The Yard to deliver and deliver big – I was not disappointed.

I ventured down to the new hot spot between rain showers on opening day (Saturday 22nd May) and in my humble opinion, it was everything I had hoped for and more. We were greeted by snazzy signage on the way through The Yard, swiftly seated and served by exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The set-up created a genuinely fun and casual vibe, with plenty of space for social distancing and contact-free service (you order on their website, so make sure your phone is charged before you make the trip!)

As expected, the menu is just perfect. A great selection of drinks and the food was scrumptious. I had the vegan ‘Bxcon Clan Forever’ burger and a very generous portion of Vegan Gonzales Fries which are Cajun fries topped with salsa, cheese, picked chillies, onions and avocado mayo. All four in my group tried something different but I was too busy devouring my burger to take note of what they had picked! However, I’ve been reliably informed that everything else was also “banging”.

Half Man Half Burger don’t take bookings, so be prepared for a short wait to be seated, but for a casual yet delicious meal out, it’s a real winner.
