All You Need Is A Posh Bowl…
By Safiya Young
Home-made hummus is a wonderful thing. But those chickpeas can’t crush themselves, so what if you don’t have the time? Imagine you’re organising a children’s party: the stress, the balloons, the sticky fingers that will poke everything in their path, regardless of your toil. It’s the parents you must
impress. So, grab some shop-bought hummus, whack it in an attractive bowl and garnish with some paprika and olive oil. You could even pop an olive on top for extra authenticity, they won’t know the difference, my dad got away with it for years – people even used to compliment him on how much nicer it was than the supermarket equivalent, little did they know. Just make sure you listen to some cool music as you commit your gastronomical crime, I recommend “Been Caught Stealing” by Jane’s Addiction. And there you go, you’ve cheated at hummus; but don’t stop there, which other dips can you fool people with?
