HIP CHILDREN’S LITERATURE: 8-Year-Old Hastings Girl Sees Her First Book Published
PETE DONOHUE
Frida Bee Barnard Mason is so excited to have had her first book, The Headless Ghost, The Robot and The Boy, published in May by Ginger Fyre Press. This is a new publishing imprint dedicated to providing quality books for children and young adults, with stories of adventure, fantasy and fun. Frida’s success makes her one of the youngest traditionally published authors in the world.
This enchanting story, about friendship, adversity and hope, is based in Hastings, where Frida is very proud to live, and features Hastings in its story and its fantastic illustrations. The main character is a boy called Stephen, who lives in Hastings and likes going on adventures. When exploring local woods, he chances upon a cave and encounters some spooky surprises. What would you do if you stumbled across a headless ghost in a cave…a ghost who is sad and lonely and just looking for a friend?
Frida seems an exceptionally talented child and writer and her story makes great reading. She likes playing on the beach, eating chocolate, and looking at the sea and the stars in the sky. And of course, always full of ideas, Frida loves writing stories. To buy The Headless Ghost, The Robot and The Boy at £10 head to the Ginger Fyre Press website or their Facebook page.
