Roland Jarvis was a multi-talented printmaker, painter, sculptor, horologist, film maker and engineer who hosted many exhibitions from his Hastings Old Town studio in Tackleway (Tackleway Hall) until his death in 2016. A popular long-term Hastings resident and supporter of Old Hastings Preservation Society and the Coastal Currents festival, he exhibited regularly as a member at the Rye Society of Artists as well as in Hastings, Brighton, Maidstone and London.

His early education was in France. He studied at Guildford Technical College before gaining a place to study electrical engineering at King’s College, London. He subsequently attended Chelsea Art School and then obtained a scholarship to study in Paris in the 1950s. He taught at Watford, Camberwell, Brighton, and Kingston Art Colleges. His work is represented in the V&A, the British Museum, New York Public Library, and the National Galleries of Perth, Brisbane, and Western Australia. 

This exhibition displays original work from Jarvis, as well as drawings and prints, at affordable prices. It is organised by his daughter Sophie Mason, also a painter. There will be a bargain box, in which some of the works are free! The venue is a short walk up from the Old Town in a peaceful setting with stunning views over the hills.
