Puttingon some SLAP
S.L.A.P (St Leonard’s Art Party) brings together a bold, eclectic mix of 11 local artists whose work captures the creative pulse of the South Coast. Curated by Michelle Mildenhall and Susan Diamond, this dynamic group show celebrates the spirited, the playful and the thought-provoking sides of contemporary art.
Each artist in S.L.A.P brings their own unique voice and visual language, from striking portraits and experimental installations to tactile materials and unexpected narratives. Together, they create an exhibition as diverse as it is connected, a lively conversation between styles, mediums and ideas.
Michelle Mildenhall, known for her empowering latex portraits and witty, subversive aesthetic, joins forces with Susan Diamond, a renowned painter of powerful, emotive art whose curatorial eye champions originality and artistic integrity. Their shared vision for S.L.A.P is simple: to celebrate creativity without restraint, through art that connects, provokes, and makes an impression.
“We wanted to put together something that truly represents the spirit of St Leonards – full of personality, energy, and individuality,” says Michelle. “It’s a chance to bring artists and audiences together in a fun, open way – like a proper art party!”
“The mix of artists and styles is what makes this show so exciting,” adds Susan. “It’s about celebrating the diversity of local talent and how each artist brings their own spark to the room.”
Expect a show full of colour, conversation and a little bit of cheek, because in true St Leonards spirit, S.L.A.P is more than an exhibition – it’s a party.
