Michelle Mildenhall Returns with a new exhibition
After Dark, a striking new exhibition by latex artist Michelle Mildenhall, opens at the Electric Palace Cinema on 5 September, with Michelle on hand to meet visitors and talk about the inspiration behind the work.
Inspired by the unique atmosphere of the Electric Palace and a lifelong fascination with classic cinema, After Dark captures legendary screen icons in intimate, nocturnal moments. Suspended between glamour and shadow, each portrait invites viewers to wonder what happens after the cameras stop rolling, where hidden stories unfold in the shadows beyond the spotlight.
Renowned for her distinctive portraits created entirely from hand-cut sheet latex, Michelle transforms an unconventional material into bold, graphic artworks that blur the boundaries between fine art and alternative culture. Her work combines dramatic colour, layered composition and meticulous craftsmanship to create images that are both instantly recognisable and rich with intrigue.
Artist views: Saturday 5 and 12 September at The Electric Palace. The exhibition will also be available to view before and after every film screening throughout September as part of The Coastal Currents Arts Festival.
