The Circus Comes to Town
If you’re fed up with staying at home and the limited opportunities to go out and be entertained, perhaps you should consider a trip to the circus. Coming to Glyne Gap Field, Bexhill Road on Tuesday 18th August, it is described by Continental Circus Berlin (CCB) as a “magical production … brimming with an international cast of breathtaking artistes featuring an unrivalled mix of genuine circus talent from every corner of the Globe.”
And this 2019 review from the Manchester Evening News confirms the hype.

First it explains: “The show amalgamates performers from a range of countries and some who regularly tour with different troupes.” Then it applauds: “The two-hour performance – with 20-minute interval – goes seamlessly and there’s never a dull moment. What’s more the hard-working performers are risking their lives twice a day for your entertainment.”
If your own safety is a concern – as it should be – CCB reassures that the show is: “Housed in a climate-controlled, socially-distanced, theatre-style big top” that “is sure to impress”.
They have much more to say and here are a few examples:
“It’s an amalgamation of brilliant circus acts, music and real youthful energy.”
“In an age where so much entertainment is unreal, made up of special effects, CGI and has a virtual reality, being pre-recorded, multi-tracked, digitally enhanced or in some other way electronically created – the sheer reality of a live show is a breath of fresh air and the feats and skills seen at Continental Circus Berlin are often so amazing that the circus-goer literally cannot believe their eyes.”
“Clowns Angelo & Eddie, will guide you through this super show which also includes Beautiful aerialist’s, quick change artistes, high wire walkers, the rotating wheel of destiny, motorbike balancers, hula hoop queens, whirlwind acrobats and the death defying Globe of Death with riders traveling at G force speeds inside a mesh dome.”
And just to be clear: “A rare treat, and great fun with something for all ages.”
But for those without children and with strong nerves, on 22nd August at 8pm the big top morphs into the Circus of Horrors.
