Warmer weather heralds the return of the Kings Road Market, now entering its 12th year. And the sun shone for its 2025 season opener on April 5th, attracting a big turnout of locals and weekend visitors interested in checking out the offer on the usual club mix of stalls. The new season sees a return of old friends and new traders, including Hastings Pottery and Wobbly Pots and Tina and Sons Cake Shop, both returning for their second year.

Market founder and manager, Anton Burton-Windsor, from social enterprise Sussex Concepts, commented: “It’s so great to be back outdoors, showcasing the amazing Kings Road, now one of the best shopping and food streets on the South Coast. It’s changed a lot over the years we’ve been running, but its independent spirit lives on as an example of what can be done with passion and imagination.

“The Kings Road Market has become a bit of an institution over the last few years and is about more than the trading, though that’s important. At heart, it is an integral part of our stellar St Leonards community.”

HIP also joined the street party on the community table, where team members distributed the current edition and encouraged people to sign up as Friends for just £3 a month (or more for those who can afford it), bringing your favourite local paper a valuable regular income.

The Kings Road market runs from 10am until 4pm on the first Saturday of the month until October, with an extra July market to support the St Leonards Festival. The season concludes with the fabled Frost Fair finale on 29 November.
