Shopkeepers of the World is a project uniting and celebrating the culture of shopping in St Leonards on Sea and Bexhill, exploring the charity shop as a vessel for memories of people and place. Staff and volunteers in charity shops in St Leonards and Bexhill are collecting the stories behind charity shop objects. These objects and stories will inspire a series of art installations which will be exhibited in situ in charity shops in September 2018.

The project will be hosting ‘donation days’ at the De La Warr Pavilion on the 23rd June and St Leonard’s Festival on 30th June. For the donation day we are asking people to bring along a pre-loved item that they would like to donate to a local charity shop to be part of the project. They can drop in anytime between 11am-3pm, have a cup of tea and share the story behind the item they are donating. It’s open to all.
