Hastings Castle Relaunches with ‘Creatures of the Castle’ Weekend
Hastings Castle re-opens this month with an intriguing-sounding Creatures of the Castle weekend.
On the evening of 8 May, all are invited to a sunset launch party to take in the views with drinks and performances from local musicians and DJs – and to awaken the inquisitive, hidden creatures hibernating on the West Hill and living within us all!
Sunday 10 May sees another summoning of beasts with a Creatures of the Castle family day, providing music from Fat Tuesday young artists, crafting with Radiator Arts and Kyla Jardine, live music from the Tots Tunes family band, storytelling and cream teas from the Kiosk.
This is just the beginning of a diverse and exciting programme of events from new leaseholders Troika, the team behind the West Hill Project, the West Hill Kiosk and new food and wine space Bunka on the Observer building rooftop.
Seeing the potential for this breathtaking monument to be re-activated as a cultural centre, the new Hastings Castle team aims to programme regular and special one-off events that expand and connect with the spirit of this surprising and deeply historical site.
Events programming is driven by Ellie Westbrook and Vanessa Farinha, established creatives and cultural producers both in Hastings and nationally. The team will be partnering with local organisations and organisers who are already doing great work to reconnect the town’s iconic landmark with its people.
The Sunset Launch Party is from 5.30-8.30pm on 8 May. Tickets £10 including free drink (under-12s go free). The Family Day is from 11.00am-3.00pm on 10 May. Tickets £8.50 (under-12s go free).
