Get Out In The Fresh Autumn Air With TCV
The dedicated East Sussex Biodiversity Action Team recently met for tea and cakes at the Hastings Country Park to celebrate The Conservation Volunteer’s 60th birthday this year. Hastings Country Park is one of the many sites they work so hard to improve.
“It’s nice to be able to see the difference we make each week to the beautiful Sussex landscape,” Owen Johnson, one of the volunteer leaders, explained. “It’s always an enjoyable day to be out with the group with everyone getting stuck in.”
The group is organised by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) and work with councils, charities and private landowners to improve wildlife habits in Sussex.
Alex Vergara-Lansdell, the Sussex Conservation Project officer is grateful to have such a dedicated and friendly team of volunteers improving the natural environment in Sussex. He explains that the group meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday “which is amazing as there is always something new to do. Having so many task days allows volunteers to come on any day that suits them to get outside and back to nature”.
The tasks focus on increasing the number of species in an area and public access to rural sites. “We are always looking for more people to get involved.”
