Drop-In and Meet the Team
On the last Thursday of August, HIP held the first of its interactive monthly drop-in gatherings. A chance for us to meet readers and for them to put names to faces and talk with HIP contributors and members of the editorial team.

Written by the community for the community – no one apart from the designer is paid – HIP wants to hear your feedback on stories we’ve featured and suggestions for future topics.
For eight years HIP has appeared, free of charge, every second week, produced by volunteers on a shoestring budget gleaned from local advertising and the occasional fundraising event.
If you’ve ever fancied writing for a local newspaper, come and chat about how you might contribute, we’re happy to help novices get started.

The paper is also on the lookout for people with editing skills and in the many supporting roles, advertising, marketing, social media, listings compilation, sub-editing, distribution and finance which ensure it continues to thrive. Previous experience is welcome but not always essential.
Our next drop-in session will be at the same venue as the first, Bullet Coffee House, 38 Roberson Street, TN34 1HT between 5.30-7.00pm on Thursday, 28 September. See you there.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this article. The future of our volunteer led, non-profit publication would be far more secure with the aid of a small donation. You can also support local journalism by becoming a friend of HIP. It only takes a minute and we would be very grateful.
