Art in the Heart of St Leonards
Whether you are an artist wanting to devote more time to honing existing skills or are thinking of taking up art classes for the first time, St Leonards Art School has something to offer all ages and all abilities. In its delightful studio on Maze Hill, which is flooded with natural light, the school offers the opportunity to pay as you go, learning at your own pace under the expert tuition of founder Theresa Caruana. It is situated right beside the picturesque St Leonards Gardens, which often serves as an inspiration for students, or is used as a venue for plein-air classes.
The studio is fully equipped with a wide range of painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and clay materials, so all you need to bring is your imagination and enthusiasm. Adult classes begin at £13.50 per hour (£20 for two hours) and students can select from a flexible timetable which runs from Tuesdays through to Saturdays. Kids’ classes are also available for children aged seven and upwards, priced at £12 per child. The school is fully inclusive, with a diverse cohort of students.
Theresa has worked for over 25 years as an artist, educator and curator, with a broad range of ages and abilities including SEND. Her practice has drawn upon a wide range of media, from analogue photography, large scale video projection and interactive multimedia installations to drawing, painting and sculpture. Throughout her artistic journey, she has retained a fascination with the natural word and our place within it as creative and emotional beings.
