Age-Friendly Coffee Mornings are Back
After a short Covid Break, Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA), working with Clr Ruby Cox, Older Person’s Champion for Hastings Borough Council, are once again running their ‘discussion over coffee’ mornings. The discussions are all about how to make Hastings a good place to age well in.
Debby Anderson, Age-Friendly Project Worker at HVA says: “The sessions have been really interesting, and we have learned a huge amount about what changes local people would like both large and small.” But it’s not just about discussion. Debby goes on to say: “We continue to work hard to make some of these things happen.”
The coffee mornings take place every month on a Friday between 11.00am and 1.00pm at Central Hall, 6 Bank Buildings, Station Road with upcoming topics as follows:
• 18 February: Theme of Social Participation, discussing ‘People who actively participate in their community tend to be happier as a result’. An opportunity to find out about things happening locally including cookery workshops, NHS Consultations, reading groups, volunteering and other activities.
• 18 March: Theme of Transport, with an opportunity to chat to Stagecoach Buses, Southern Rail, Hastings Community Transport as well as the mutual aid group HEART about travel in our town.
• 22 April: Theme of Communication and Information. Come and find out how we can help you stay in touch with what is happening around you.
Each event will feature a range of speakers and refreshments are available at all events.
