An Evening of Fun and Laughter

If you’re up for an evening of fun and laughter while raising money for a good cause, how about some classic comedy, daft songs and theatrical nonsense? This is what is promised by the Comedy Sketch Show at the Stables Theatre.
Well-known actor Adrian Bowd, who more recently has been directing plays for local venues, came up with the idea of organising a fundraiser in memory of his daughter, Christine, who he sadly lost to breast cancer this year.
“Cancer isn’t funny, I know,” he says. “I’ve got it, and my daughter has just passed away because of it.” He suspects that most people have a friend or relation who has had a brush with the illness so: “In an effort to lift the gloom, we’ve put together an evening of sketches and music.”
To make this happen, Adrian has gathered together a company of performers “to do what theatre does best in difficult times, make people laugh.” The entertainment continues after the show with music in the bar.
In the process he not only intends to give you a good night out but also raise a significant amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Comedy Sketch Show is at the Stables Theatre on 5 and 6 October starting 7.45. Tickets, £10, from the Box office 01424 423221
