BLAST Reopens as The Thonett Gallery
The art gallery run by Markus and Tessa Thonett, hitherto called ‘BLAST’ has now changed its name to the more literally descriptive Thonett Gallery, which they feel is more representative of their current artistic output.
At the Grand Opening at St Andrews Mews (next to M & S, on the other side of that road, just off Queen’s rd), there will be live music provided by Grey Skull bar, which will be open, and drinks will also be served.
The gallery’s guest artist for July is Ruth Bullock, who also trained at Chelsea Art School, and whose work includes powerful abstracts and portraits. A sample of her abstract work is shown here.
The sitter for Tessa’s recent nude paintings, who is a muse and a real-life inspiration to her, will also be present. She commissioned the main painting – a detail is also shown.
The gallery will initially be open for 3 months, with the aim of continuing as a permanent feature of St Andrews Mews, if the response from visitors supports it.
At least three other art galleries will be open in St Andrews Mews with possible Private Views on the same day – so lots of diverse art for people to feast their eyes on!
The grand re-opening of this popular gallery will be on Saturday, 11 July, from 6pm to 9pm
