Ark is an Academy Chain paid for by taxpayers money. It may have ‘charitable status’, for some costings, just like some public schools currently do, which is plainly unethical and wrong. Why should the already privileged or the academy profiteers be given any charitable status for anything? Ark is a Company, funded by the State, with money raised from you and I by taxation. It was founded by a Hedge Fund. Many of the academies pay their Chief Executives ( Heads) way above the norm while driving down conditions of frontline staff in schools that find they have little money for books, investment in school buildings or sports facilities. Academies are allowed to apply to the Secretary of State to sell off school assets such as playing fields. They got hold of those assets in the first place for free when the schools were taken out of Local Authority (ESCC) control and handed to Ark in this case. No back office costs have been saved. Rather,academies are proving to be far more inefficient. What is more, they are unaccountable to parents. Those assets were for our children not for profiteering by private companies. Most Academy schools are failing our children and a lot of the statistics on performance and grading are based on nothing but skewed data designed to please the Department for Education & Ofsted.
