Hastings Pride, Hastings Heroes
Hastings Pride is returning for a third year on Sunday 25th August with a colourful parade in the town centre and an afternoon and evening of music at the Oval. The theme is Heroes and that includes the whole of Hastings.
“Hastings Pride is created for all Hastings communities to support the LGBTQ+ community and its friends and supporters. Hastings Pride is about equality in the local community of Hastings,” says one of the support team. “It’s not just about the day, but the days that follow. Support for the day is support for the whole community.”
Mutya Buena from the Sugarbabes is the first big name announced, “with a handful of amazing acts to follow”.
They hope to have a colourful town centre to match the parade, with shop windows displaying rainbow coloured displays (think clothes, food, balloons or bunting and flags). “But this is more likely to happen next year due to time restriction, permissions and our aim to reduce single use plastic at our events.” Hastings Pride team organisers are also considering altering the parade route so more roads are included.
“Along with personal messages of support from nationally famous celebs, everyone is about to see that Hastings Pride is almost here. If you would like the opportunity to share the kudos with others who are supporting Hastings Pride, then the time to do that is now.”
