The great-great-nephew of a long-deceased professional footballer named Sam Jennings is looking for traces of his family in the Hastings area. Philip Jennings, who is writing Sam’s biography, has documents showing that he died in Robertsbridge Hospital in August 1944 at the age of 45 and is buried in Hastings.

Sam Jennings played not only for numerous Football League clubs in the inter-war years, including Norwich City, Middlesborough, Brighton and Nottingham Forest, but also for Olympique Marseilles and Club Francais (Paris).

Any knowledge of or about Sam or his family should be communicated to Philip at [email protected].
