Polanski Fires Up Green Supporters Despite Reform UK Hecklers
Green Party Leader Zak Polanski gave a rousing speech to a packed crowd at the Courtyard on Hastings seafront on Thursday afternoon (30 April) as part of a final push for Green support ahead of next week’s local elections on 7 May.
Beneath the spring sunshine, Polanski addressed his fired-up audience, made up mostly of Green Party members, who clapped, cheered, whooped, and shouted their support.
A very small contingent of Reform UK supporters tried to disrupt the speech. These included a man doing Nazi salutes, another holding a St George’s flag, and a third who heckled him with a megaphone, telling the Green Party Leader that he wasn’t welcome in Hastings and that he was a communist.
Polanski didn’t let this deter him and wittily referred to the demonstrators as his “fan club.” He went on to deliver a passionate speech highlighting the Greens’ message of hope and unity.
He seemed confident that his party would do well – claiming that next week’s elections were between the Greens and Reform UK. The size of the crowd appeared to support that idea.

The more I see of him the more he grows in experience and ability, He must now deal with the increasing onslaught of those who manipulate the ignorant and the unknowing to their own ends -such as Reform, the Tory Party and those in the Labour party who have betrayed Labour. He must beware of the forces of the right that would do to him what they did to an unfortunately naive Corbyn. It will be difficult. Somehow I think as the Jewish leader of Political Party and highly articulate and politically smart, he may win through. But he has already had the Sun newspaper ‘sting’ and the Campaign Against Antisemitism (yes them!) already have him in their sights, because as they will try to make out, he is the wrong sort of Jew – just because he retweeted a message about the way the mad Golders Green terrorist was treated by Police.
