New Site For Hospice?
The Trustees of St Michael’s Hospice have announced that they are looking to expand their hospice service, including exploring alternative locations.
Dr Karen Clarke, the chief executive, said that while the existing buildings at Upper Maze Hill are in a beautiful place and “hold a special place in the hearts of many”, the capacity to develop them into a modern facility is limited. “Our vision is for a new hospice that not only meets the practical needs of patients, their families and friends, but also captures the care and compassion that defines St Michael’s Hospice – a place where people can live well with dying, death and loss.”
A budget of “at least £10m” for construction of a new facility is envisaged, with the aim of completing a new building by 2030.
