Hastings Borough Council have been inviting ‘Expressions of Interest’ to operate an ice cream concession from a fixed location outside the West Hill café for the 2024 season. Prospective operators must already hold a current FHRS (Food Hygiene Rating Scheme) rating. Bids close today (Friday).

The café itself will not be reopened. A council spokesperson said last week: “We have decided that it would not be feasible to explore any short-term options due to the condition of the building.” The site is earmarked in the long term for redevelopment as an Interpretation Centre for Hastings Castle.
