Free Hana campaign in Old Town
Friends and supporters of Hana Al Bidaq, a Palestinian woman imprisoned by Israel, ran an all-day pop-up exhibition and ‘Free Hana’ campaign stall in Butlers Gap last Saturday. Hana helped put on a fashion show Palestine on the Pier showing historic Palestinian ‘thobes’ at in 2022, and visited Hastings to give a talk on Palestinian life. She was arrested in September after taking part in a public hunger strike against Israeli attacks on Gaza, so campaigners took part in a solidarity hunger strike as they collected signatures on the petition to MP Helena Dollimore. They are asking the MP to make representations to Israel, via the UK foreign office, about Hana’s unjust imprisonment.
