Project Art Works Opens its Doors
This summer take a trip to Hastings to visit Project Art Works and experience their newly reopened Arches and Trinity Hall on one of their Open Studios weekends. Explore an exhibition and film that celebrate their unique working environment and the rich diversity of their creative practices.
Project Art Works collaborates with people with complex support needs, their families and circles of support. Their practice combines art and care, and responds to neurodivergence, its gifts and its impacts. It spans direct practical and holistic support to create films, events, projects and exhibitions.
Their studios provide the conditions for a broad range of autonomous and collaborative work with neurodivergent artists. Readers of these pages may remember last December’s Red, Blue, Up exhibition at the De La Warr Pavilion by prizewinning artist Sophie Roberts, who is a member of this unusual collective. Alongside the studios, the Support Collective brings together carers, where experience is shared and rights protected through training, resources and advocacy.
