Hasting’s vibrant jazz scene is set for a powerful dose of energy as Matt Ridley’s Antidote take the stage for a special live performance. Led by acclaimed bassist and composer Matt Ridley, Antidote has earned a reputation for its dynamic blend of contemporary jazz, intricate rhythms, and expansive improvisation. Ridley has performed across the UK and internationally with a wide cross section of artists, most prominently the Darius Brubeck Quartet (who performed at Jazz Hastings a couple of years ago, see review at https://www.hastingsindependentpress.co.uk/articles/culture/arts/its-about-that-time/) of which he has been a member since 2006. As leader of Antidote, he has released two critically acclaimed albums. This session will feature music from the band’s celebrated recordings as well as brand-new material, showcasing Ridley’s imaginative writing and the ensemble’s razor-sharp interplay. Antidote promises an evening that is both boldly creative and deeply engaging.
“Performing this music live is where it truly comes alive,” says Ridley. “We’re excited to share fresh ideas, take risks, and connect with the audience in real time.”
