Hastings writers contribute to anti-Trump anthology
‘Art is not a form of propaganda; it is a form of truth’: words uttered by John F. Kennedy in 1963.
TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome] 2026 is an anthology of poetry and art from around the world. 28 contributors confront the catastrophic stupidity, cruelty, corruption, racism and murder precipitated by the disastrous Trump administration. Many people are incensed, horrified and driven to extremes of language by this – a condition that has been weaponised by the orange lunatic and his cronies against their opponents, to suggest that they are not capable of rational thought (as opposed to Trumpian policies that are of course cohesive, progressive and well thought-out!). This is a historical record for today and future times.
From the 28 contributions in the anthology, readings from which featured as part of Nottingham Poetry Festival, only two from England are included – the others are from around the world: USA, Canada, India, Europe and one from Scotland. Both artists live and work in Hastings and St Leonards. Felicity Stephen is a poet, writer and educator – she runs a series of workshops here, Hastings Writers for Wellbeing, and facilitates speaking and writing workshops for refugees.
Lee Allane is a poet, artist and illustrator, also living in Hastings.
