Led by performance artist Eleanor Westbrook, ‘Concert at the Castle’ aims not only to unite a lively audience at the iconic venue, but also to bring together the community in a collaborative effort to support local artists and performers in their craft.

The exciting range of performances includes a rendition of Judith Weir’s mini-opera ‘King Harald’s Saga’, followed by live strings with local cellist Tara Franks and her duo Balladeste, local singers including Bev Lee Harling and synths, samples and sound manipulation by Tullis Rennie, which will all expand and experiment with the piece. The shows are complemented and augmented by dynamic interactive lighting displays, courtesy of artist Peter Hudson.

Lacking external funding, the collaborators ask for support from the community to fairly pay the artists and technical team who are putting on this incredible show. The aim is that the show’s success could lead to further support for future projects in Hastings. Together with artist Benjamin Phillips, the team have put together rewards for donations, to give visitors the opportunity to receive a beautiful illustrated screen-printed t-shirt to commemorate the event.

Concert takes place Friday, 13 September. Doors open 6:45, music starts 7:15. The event will be subject to postponement dependent on weather conditions. Crowdfunder here: crowdfunder.co.uk/p/concert-at-the-castle-sep24 Tickets £10-£20 here https://tinyurl.com/4ye5dm9s
