Art for New Hospital: Call for Entries
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT) invites local passionate and innovative artists to express their interest in designing and producing a bespoke piece of art for the new Combe Valley Hospital in Bexhill. The theme should be ‘The Natural World’. The successful artist (or maybe more than one) will be selected by the end of August 2025. This will be a major piece of permanent artwork for the state-of-the-art hospital’s reception space.
The 54-bed hospital will provide mental health services for adults and older people across East Sussex and beyond and is due to open its doors to patients at the start of 2026.
SPFT’s Arts Project Manager, Lucy Wells, said:
“We are looking to further enhance this beautiful new building with a distinctive piece that will really champion art as a key aspect of the healing environment. We want this artwork to help create a sense of welcome and improve wellbeing for patients, staff and visitors to the hospital–providing a focus for developing further art across the building and grounds in the future.”
The artwork will be situated in the double-height main reception atrium, which will be the first impression of the hospital for the large number of patients, visitors and staff coming on site.
Artists should express their interest by responding to the advert and commissioning document on the Combe Valley Hospital website.
