Alternative folk group 23 Fields released their latest album To Follow This Years Fashion on 1 April. The album’s lead single is Berlin, a powerful yet jaunty track that balances acoustic with hints of electric piano. Infectiously rhythmic percussion duets with tender long-drawn violin amongst raspy vocals. The band’s early pub-busking days can be heard in this number, conjuring a warm atmosphere of bar revelry.

To Follow This Years Fashion pulls in influences from a wide range of universal corners. The result is a project quite unlike any others, that will resonate with audiences through its personal human base. Folk, roots, Americana, love, life, and nonsense are all on display, seeing 23 Fields lay themselves bare.
This is the band’s second album, but their musical journey has been a long time in the making. Beginning with small busks and teenage rock bands, the band’s life has taken them through working in A&E, volunteering for the RNLI for years, and playing drums at Glastonbury, until a chance meeting over a haircut brought them together.
23 Fields are Step Adams (vocals), Louise Driver (violin) and Jason M Smith (drums and percussion). They will play at the Jenny Lind, Hastings, on 17 May and The Kings Head, Battle, on 14 June. 23fields.co.uk
