The deadline for expressions of interest for a town centre public art commission has been extended until 23 June following feedback that the original closing date of June 8 left too little time to make a pitch.

The commission was launched by Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and Hastings Museum and Art Gallery as part of the Hastings Public Realm and Connections Project. It aims to improve key streets and spaces across the town centre to deliver an improved resident and visitor experience.

The brief is open to “artists who are passionate about working collaboratively and engaging with the local community”.

Full details can be found at hmag.org.uk/see-and-do/projects/public-art-commission-hastings-town-centre-public-realm-and-green-connections-project. The successful candidate will be announced at the end of August, and the construction and installation will take place next summer.
