Direct Team Trek from Rye to Hastings
Colleagues working at Hastings Direct recently took on a challenging 12-mile trek to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s UK. The team tackled the Saxon Shore Way, covering 19.2 kilometres in five hours 25 minutes.

Starting in Rye, the route took the group through a mixture of historic landscapes, countryside and coastal paths, with plenty of climbs and descents along the way. The challenge was made even tougher by an exceptionally hot day, putting the team’s determination and teamwork to the test as they made their way towards the finish line in Hastings.
The challenge was organised by Jessica, who decided to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK. She says:
“I chose Parkinson’s UK because Parkinson’s has recently touched my own family, with someone very close to me being diagnosed. A close friend’s family has also been affected by Parkinson’s, so it’s a condition that feels particularly close to home for me.
“I wanted to do something positive to support a charity that helps people and families living with Parkinson’s and hopefully raise a little awareness along the way. I’m really grateful that my friends and colleagues joined me for the challenge and supported me, and I’d also like to thank everyone who has been so kind with their words of encouragement and sponsorship.”
Parkinson’s UK Community Fundraiser James Beeching met the team at the finish line in Hastings. “It was brilliant to be there and see Jessica and the team come in after completing such a challenging 12-mile walk,” he said. “It’s particularly meaningful when people choose Parkinson’s UK because Parkinson’s has touched their own lives, and their fundraising will help us continue supporting people affected by the condition.”
The challenge raised £685 for Parkinson’s UK, helping the charity provide information and support, fund research and campaign for better services and care.
